Learning English is a daunting prospect, let alone as a second language in a new country.

Swinburne’s Language and Academic Skills (LAS) advisory service provides international students with assistance in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills for in and out of the classroom.

LAS offers free individual and small group consultations, informal conversation groups and regular workshops throughout the semester.

Workshops tackle many different topics, including:

• Understanding ‘Aussie’ English
• Report and essay writing
• Avoiding Plagiarism
• Pronunciation

There is no need to make a booking and students can come to as many or as few workshops as they like."
